Train to Teach
You can train to be a primary or a secondary teacher with Scarborough Teaching Alliance.
We offer a DfE (Department for Education) accredited teacher training programme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Courses last one year and are full time.
Scarborough Teaching Alliance - Coast and Vale Teacher Training are based in Scarborough and we have a proven track record of training high quality teachers into the profession.
As well as QTS and a PGCE, successful students will also complete two master’s level modules during the year, gaining 60 master’s credits, awarded by York St. John University.
Our training places are in good and outstanding schools in Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby, Filey and surrounding areas. All our partner schools are committed to supporting trainees to be the very best teachers they can be.
We offer placements in nursery, reception and Key Stage 1.
We offer placements in Key Stage 1 & 2 classes in a range of schools, reflecting the diversity of the communities served by our alliance schools.
We offer placements in Key Stage 2 & 3 classes in a range of schools, reflecting the diversity of the communities served by our alliance schools.
We offer places on our School Direct programme with PGCE. We offer a range of subjects, usually including English, Maths, Science, Geography, History and Modern Foreign Languages. For the current range of subjects available - click here.
